BROWN, Michael

Michael J. Brown is a leading authority in film design, an architectural theorist and practitioner. He studied at the University of California at Berkeley, graduating in 1999, before joining Studio Daniel Libeskind. During his subsequent tenure at Studio Daniel Libeskind, he directed the design and construction of several award-winning cultural buildings and had a lead role in the World Trade Center “Ground Zero” competition, later in charge of the Masterplan Memorial/Cultural Team.

In 2001, Brown co-founded Studio Digital-Analog with Tino Schaedler at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin. Together with Tino he worked on the immersive coccoon, a project which will revolutionize the gaming space and the way we work in the future. He recently co-founded NAU, a cross-disciplinary design collective positioned between architecture and film.

His academic studies are related to the integration of traditional methods of teaching and practice with emerging digital possibilities. He continues his theoretic research in parallel to his professional work, regularly contributing to journals and lecturing.
