Global Management 2007: Keynote speakers

COSTA, Carlos Manuel Martins da

Professor Carlos Costa holds a PhD in Tourism, from the Department of Management Studies for Tourism and Hotel Industries, University of Surrey, England, and is a renowned expert in this area.

Currently he is an Associated Professor at the Department of Management and Economics of the University of Aveiro, Portugal, where he coordinates the Masters in Tourism Management and Development. He is also an invited Professor at the University of Surrey (UK).

Professor Carlos Costa has participated in multiple different projects, coordinates several investigation studies, is a member of the UNWTO Expert Commission for the Implementation of the Regional Base Tourism Satellite Account, one of the editors of RT&D – Journal of Tourism and Development, and has also published several books on Tourism.

 

EDWARDS, Vic

Professor Vic Edwards is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Banking & Finance from the University of New South Wales, Australia. Aside his academic activities Professor Vic Edwards is also Director of the Australia China Institute of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Co-director of the Asia Pacific Financial Research Centre.

Currently he is a Board Member of the Interdisciplinary Journal of Information, Knowledge and Management. He is also Asia Pacific's Regional Editor of the International Journal of Revenue Management.

Professor Vic Edwards has also published several books and papers on Financial Markets, Bank Management and the different uses of technology in this field.

 

SILVA, Joćo Albino Matos da

Professor Joćo Albino Silva is the President of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Algarve. He holds a PhD in Tourism Economics, from the Institute of Economics and Business Management, Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal.

Presently, he is the Director of the following teaching programmes at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Algarve: Doctoral Tourism Programme; MSc in Regional Economics and Local Development; MA in Tourism Management and Development.

Professor Joćo Albino Silva has participated in several projects. Among others, he was a specialist advisor to the steering group for the National Plan of Tourism in Dominican Republic for the Inter-American Development Bank, and a member of the High Level Group on Tourism and Employment of the European Union.
